Chilli and Spice is a family run restaurant that occupies a secluded first floor location outside the Broad Street Mall.
Our meal there was of a uniformly high standard. Of the starters, onion bhajis were plump and flavourful, chicken tikka pieces tender and spicy. Main courses were equally satisfying and clearly crafted from the freshest of ingredients with an excellent range of vegetable dishes to add to the excellent choice.
The menu boasted a strong range of meat and seafood dishes, featuring expected favourites and chef's specialties like chicken jalfrezi - chicken cooked with capsicums and tomatoes with adequate spice - and lamb makhani, a dish of tender lamb cooked in a butter based sauce with yoghurt. All the side orders such as poppadoms and naans were presented with equal high standard. As for drinks, there is small selection of traditional beers and soft drinks alongside a varied wine list.
To complement the excellent taste sensation, the service was 'as it should be' with a hint of real care and attention, and remained reliable and friendly throughout the evening.
This secluded restaurant is well worth seeking out as it offers an enjoyable and complete dining experience.
