  Arguably one of the most stunning historic pubs in a county renowned for historic pubs, The Thatch, as it is affectionately known by its regulars, is a 400-year-old beamed tavern with roaring fires and traditional fresh food as well as great ale and an extensive wine list.

  Sample homemade beef stew & dumplings, or authentic steak & kidney pudding as well as the changing daily specials inspired by the best fresh ingredients sourced by the kitchen.

  It is said that Queen Victoria’s Royal Carriage was sometimes seen outside, while John Brown was fortifying himself inside before his onward journey to Windsor Castle.
