  With a reputation as an unfussy, high quality brasserie serving classic food and good drink in stylish and friendly surroundings, the Browns chain has becoming an institution over the last three decades.

  Whether you're wanting to enjoy one of the extensive selection of chilled continental beers or sample a glass of wine or a Browns cocktail, there's much to enjoy here - and that's even before you pick up a menu.

  The menu has a wide range of dishes perfect for sharing if you wish to graze while you drink, as well as hearty main courses so wonderful you won't want to share.

  We loved the Camembert box baked with rosemary and garlic served with grapes and crusty bread to share as a starter, before moving on to the slowly braised pork with black pudding and crisped bacon served with mashed potato and sage gravy and roast half of duck with an orange sauce, new potatoes and French beans.

  Pudding lovers have much to choose from - with no less than six different kinds of cheesecake to choose from, as well as Pimms Jelly and Brown's legendary apple pie and custard, all served in a lovely chilled out atmosphere perfect for lingering to chat with friends.
